What is self-regulation?
What does it look like in your setting - for your children?
Which children come later to learning or battle with their behaviours?
Considering those children especially, we study the science behind why they behave as they do and what we can do to understand them, support them and anticipate their needs.
Perfect for a range of professionals and parents, we rethink our responses whether as individuals or through our practical provision, interventions and interactions
You will leave with a depth of understanding of
- What self-regulation really means - the science behind the strategies and how to challenge and strengthen your practice and provision
- Which children need which kind of support
- Practical Solutions which work for every individual and grow with the child
- Strategies to minimise challenging behaviour through supporting emotional, social and cognitive self-regulation
- The importance of co-regulation and how to motivate without reliance on rewards
Currently so many of our children are struggling with their self-regulation and it is high on the agenda for all the adults around them , in our schools and settings and in their daily life, but have you actually dived below the surface of self-regulation?
Do you know the roots of self-regulation and understand the simple but effective strategies you use with your children to anticipate challenges and support these?
Many children who struggle with self-regulation have experienced childhood trauma (ACEs), have underlying special needs or struggle with attachment or anxiety.
They may be struggling with the demands that everyday education can put upon them. They may simply need to move more than our current curriculum caters for- boys and girls alike. Parents too may be struggling with supporting their child and our practitioner-parent partnership is key.
